ALDERSHOT TOWN have confirmed that Chris Barker, Cameron Brown and Aaron Wickham have all signed deals with the club.
Defender Chris Barker has signed a one-year contract with The Shots following his release by Southend United.
The 33-year old joins the club with a wealth of experience having made 142 appearances in three years with The Shrimpers.
He had been club captain for two seasons and led Southend to the League Two Play-Offs as well as the 2013 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final.
In a career spanning nearly 500 appearances, the player has also featured for Barnsley, Cardiff, Queen’s Park Rangers and Plymouth Argyle, including six seasons in the Championship.
“We needed an experienced head to guide our younger players along, and to make them better players, and Chris has certainly got that,” explained manager Andy Scott. “He’s a very good player, and well-regarded wherever he’s been. He’s a player who is only going to benefit us – whenever I’ve seen him he’s always acquitted himself very very well.”
Meanwhile, attacking midfield trialists Cameron Brown and Aaron Wickham have also been awarded one-year contracts following their impressive form in pre-season.
“Aaron impressed in a trial game for us last season. He’s still a young man but he’s got ability – he works very hard, he’s quick and he scores goals,” continued Scott. “Cameron, likewise, is one of the most talented footballers, with the ball at his feet, that I’ve seen for a long time.
“He’s got the raw talent to be a really good player, and someone who, with his ability to open things up in the final third, is completely different to what we’ve got in the squad so far.”
All three players will be in the squad who will face Grimsby Town today.
