Speaking to the site he said: "I said to the players before the game that I wanted a clean sheet and they did that. We won under difficult circumstances with a back four made up of midfield players added with Mikhael in goal who had an excellent afternoon.
"It was important to win the last game of the season and throughout the game we played some good football. Everyone was saying that there was nothing at stake but there was. We wanted to win the game and the most important factor was that we didn't enter the summer on the back of a poor run.
"We wanted to end the season on a high and we did. It was important to give the supporters, who were excellent again, a victory and something positive to go home for, We changed the formation slightly and it worked because we could use pace in wide areas and I could credit everybody in the team because they all put a shift in.
"Ironically we travelled up on the morning of the game so I am sure that the Chairman John McGinty will be pleased as he said to us to do that instead of an overnight stay so I am sure he may be asking us to do the same thing on away trips next season.
"It was great for Scott Davies to sign off in the way he did. He started his Aldershot career with a wonderful strike at Kidderminster Harriers. The lad will go on and play at a higher level. He has been a massive influence on what has happened here over the last two years. I respect him as a guy and thank him and Reading FC for allowing us to have him."
