Waddock: No Interest From Oxford United

Andy Sandell: Oxford interested?
Aldershot News reporter Charlie Oliver has been speaking to Shots boss Gary Waddock this week following the rumours that the U's boss is interested in several of his players.

While several of The Shots players remained contracted to the club for another season, there is no doubt that Waddock will be left to raise money from player sales if he wishes to be in a position to splash some cash of his own, but The Shots boss has denied that he has received any offers or even enquiries for his current crop of players at this early stage of the summer.

"I've been hearing rumours linking some of my players to Oxford United, yes, but I have spoken to those players and they say that they are fully committed to Aldershot Town," Waddock told the Aldershot News.

With Lewis Chalmers, John Grant and, in particular, Andy Sandell, having all been linked to the ambitious Conference side he continued, "It is unsettling, to be honest."

Sandell attended Oxford's last home game of the season last month which further fuelled speculation surrounding him but Waddock was quick to say, "I don't try to sign a player every time I go to watch a reserve team, do I?"

"If the phone doesn't ring — and it hasn't — that suggests to me that there is not the interest that the rumour says there is."
