Waddock Thanks Fans After Shocking Performance

Gary Waddock: Players need to give more.
Speaking to the clubs official website Waddock said, "I would like to thank the fans. I thought they were fantastic today. If that was any other group of fans then they would have got on the player's backs and voiced their disappointments. Throughout the game I thought they were first-class.

"We looked nervous, edgy and worried. We knew we were playing a good side in Rochdale but we didn't compete or get anywhere near them and we lacked hunger and energy and as a group we have to address this.

"It surprised me because we didn't dig in. Mistakes have cost us yet again and that cannot continue to happen. We contribute to our own downfall with the errors that are being made. We left ourselves a mountain to climb and on this occasion the mountain was far too high. To be honest at 4-0 at half-time it is quite embarrassing really. The way that we fell apart in the first half is not the group of players that we have had here in the past 18 months. We showed a little bit more in the second half but that only glossed over the problems that we have got."
