The highly rated midfielder continued, "I am that confident because otherwise I wouldn't be moving this far away if I didn't think we could get into the Football League.
"As soon as I heard Exeter wanted me I couldn't wait to get something sorted out. I have heard good things about Alex Inglethorpe - the way he runs the club and treats the players - so I didn't really give it a second thought.
"He came to me and said he wanted me to play central midfield and that, coupled with the fact that Exeter are a huge club, convinced me to sign.
"I was in and out of the side at Aldershot last season for one reason or another, so I needed to move on with my career. I see this as another step in my life and it's so exciting I can't wait to start."
Challinor was forced to leave Aldershot at the end of last season when he learnt that he did not figure in Terry Brown's future plans. The arrival of David Lee and Gary Holloway towards the end of lthe season meant that the midfielder was limited in his chances and by his own admission - he can't wait to face his old club.
"I will be looking for the Aldershot fixture straight away," said Challinor, who is set buy a house in Taunton with law graduate girlfriend Lara Jobson.
"I left the club on good terms so hopefully I will get a good reception with the fans when I go back.
"There are some interesting fixtures next season but that will be the main one. I always looked forward to playing against Exeter because it was a battle - now I have got the added bonus of playing with them."
