Holloway Targets England Spot

Gary Holloway is hoping a successful season with Blue Square South club Lewes can reignite his international dream.

Holloway's bursts from midfield are a feature of how Lewes play and manager Steve King has switched to a 4-3-3 formation this year essentially to get the best out of his midfield gem.

The 27-year-old has already shown his commitment to the club by signing a new two-year contract with the option of a third year and he is hoping that will help him achieve a double goal of promotion to Blue Square Premier and England honours.

In his debut season at the club last year, Holloway (pictured) scooped all the player of the year awards and was called up to play for the England `C` side against Finland under-21s at the end of the season.

He was unable to play in that game as he was best man at a wedding, but he is desperate to represent his country.

Holloway said: "There is nothing like representing your country. I was delighted to be asked but unfortunately I couldn't go because of other commitments.

"I would definitely love to be asked again. Hopefully this year if we are more successful on the pitch I will get the call and I also believe there are other players in the team who could get called up.

Options "I am really enjoying it at Lewes. I had a few options before I signed last summer and wasn't really sure what I wanted to do. But I spoke to Kingy, liked what he said and I have been delighted with the way it has worked out.

"It wasn't a good season for the team last year but I really enjoyed it. We had a new team, lots of new players and it is difficult when you have that. We needed last season to get used to playing with each other.

"I'm not surprised we have started this season so well and I really believe we can still get better.

"Kingy likes to get the ball down and play and that suits me. We have a great chance of achieving a lot at Lewes.

"I have played in a lot of Conference teams and I think we could more than hold our own against them."
