The Aldershot News has reported that the former Cove chief took over the hot seat at Krooner Park from Ken Ballard, who quit earlier this month after complaining of budget cuts.
But now it's the turn of Dumbuya, the former Aldershot Town and Fleet winger, to come in — and he can't wait to get started.
He said: “I am very excited. I was advised to apply for the role and after speaking with the chairman, I got the job. I am really pleased.
“I had a few other offers but decided I wanted to work at Camberley. The club has great facilities and I really believe it is a sleeping giant waiting to be woken up.”
But even though Ballard had grave concerns over the slashed budget at Krooner Park, Dumbuya is confident it's one he can comfortably work with.
“The budget is fine for me,” he added. “I am used to working with a smaller budget from my days at Cove.
“I have got good local contacts and everything is set up at Camberley, there are boys' teams from the age of six upwards, and ground improvements going on.
“I would also like to finish in the top half of the table for the season as there is a chance that with the league restructuring there will be a chance to play at a higher level.”
Dumbuya is now looking to prove people wrong after being surprisingly sacked by Cove at the end of last season — this despite notching up 10 points in the last four games in helping the club avoid relegation.
He continued: “I am ambitious and I also want to prove people wrong. I'll stay on as a player but if there are better players than me obviously they would be in the team. We start back in a week and I've got a few things to sort out.
“It is a step up for me because even though it's technically on the same level as the Combined Counties, the grounds that we will be visiting are better and some of the teams are better. I'm looking forward to getting started and waking up this sleeping giant!”
