Ian McDonald has joined neighbours Farnborough Town as their new manager.

The clubs press release - issued today:

"APPOINTMENT OF NEW MANAGER

The Board of Farnborough Town Football & Social Club Limited are pleased to announce the appointment of Ian McDonald as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

Since the departure of Frank Gray to Grays Athletic, the Board have spent the past week considering and interviewing a number of applicants for the position and were particularly impressed by Ian's enthusiasm for the Club, plans for moving the Club forward and willingness to continue Frank Gray's progress from last season.

The Board are confident that Ian's managerial experience and popularity will prove vital in ensuring a successful season next year.

First on the agenda for Ian is to secure the playing squad for next season and to appoint his backroom team that will assist him to meet his ambitions for Farnborough Town Football Club.

Commenting on his return to the Club for which he played and previously managed, Ian said “My enthusiasm for Farnborough Town is still as strong today as it was when I was here a few years ago and I am very pleased to be given this opportunity. I still have many friends at Farnborough and the prospect of taking the managerial reigns is one that I relish”.

The Board are very confident in the appointment of Ian McDonald and will provide their full support in meeting Ian's goals.

Ian will be at Farnborough Town Social Club on Tuesday 6th June 2006 from 7.30pm to meet supporters and will be available to answer any questions that you may wish to put to him."
