"Mark and I have been talking to Adam for a few weeks," Chairman Phil Wallace told the club's official website.
"He's out of contract soon and it wasn't in anyones interest that he became a free agent next month.
"Most football people feel Adam can play at least a couple of leagues higher, but he wants to achieve that with us.
"He's beginning to mature and has learnt the hard way this season that being out of the team with excessive disciplinary points doesn't help anyone, especially the team.
"He's a tremendous asset and his overwhelming desire to win is an important part of his overall qualities. We're delighted he's staying with us for another couple of years.''
