Smith To Stay In Rushmoor?

Farnborough Town manager, Frank Gray has started the process of piecing together his new-look Farnborough Town squad for next season by holding a trial game at Cherrywood Road on Thursday - running the rule over several possible new singings including ex-Aldershot Town youngster Tyron Smith (pictured.)

The relegated club's new boss was remaining tight-lipped over the new names to be gracing Cherrywood Road this season, but Smith is being heavily linked with a move to Boro.

Released by the Shots last month, the 18-year-old had struggled to break his way into the squad, but with a midfield including former Boro players Steve Watson and Gary Holloway, the youngster was forced to play most of his football filling in as cover at right-back.

But Smith still comes highly-rated from the Rec with boss Terry Brown saying he “would love Tyron to join Farnborough Town” at the time of his release, adding that he simply needed first-team football as he has “bags of talent.”

And with Smith based locally, he could prove to be a very useful acquisition for Gray.

Farnborough will be playing their football in the Conference South next season.
