25-year old Lee suffered a broken leg in the clubs opening away fixture against Canvey Island this season and since then he has undergone surgery and extensive physiotherapy in an extensive programme which has lasted six months.
Terry Brown told the site, "David is coming on well. Both the surgeon and physio Sue Bowen are delighted with his progress. David is off to Lilleshall this week to continue his rehabilitation programme and the signs are encouraging. It is also good for David that he will be able to meet people who have been in a similar situation to his own. This gives him the opportunity to talk and discuss how they have overcome their own difficulties."
When asked when it would be likely that Lee would return to the side, Brown said, "It would be a bonus to have David playing towards the end of this season and it is possible but if I am being honest I think that a better target would be for David to have a first class 2006/07 pre season in order to get him to the highest fitness levels possible to start next season as a new player".
Meanwhile, striker Kirk Hudson is likely to return to action on Wednesday afternoon when the reserves travel to Gillingham for a Pontins Combination fixture. The former Celtic youngster has been sidelined with a bout of mumps recently but has recovered quicker than expected. Kick off at Priestfield will be 2pm.
