Only a reported 22 Shots Trust members turned out for last night’s Shots Trust meeting, resulting in no vote being possible for a changing in its constitution which would have paved the way for it to head towards Community Club status.
It may be a case of too little, too late or that Shots supporters really don’t care enough about the future of the football club after all the close season wrangling but with the only possible future of senior football in Aldershot being under the Community Club banner, last night’s poor attendance will have come as a blow to those working so hard behind the scenes in their bid to take the club forwards.
With a minimum of one-third of the membership needed to vote, the numbers appear to have fallen way short of this, leaving the Trusts plans needing to be revised.
With news that club administrators are giving exclusivity to one party who are looking to buy the club, the news also hammers another nail in the coffin for the Trust who also recently announced that just 200 of the supporters who made a pledge to help raise funds to potentially kick start the Community Club bid, have bothered to honoured their pledges.
