A eNewsletter released by the Shots Trust this afternoon (Sunday 19th May 2013) has revealed that the plea for new members recently has had a marvellous response from Shots supporters all over the world – but they still want many more supporters to join up to help secure the future of the club.
Speaking to members, Trust Vice Chairman Ian Goodwright said: “Analysis of our new members makes for interesting reading, with additions to all categories from Young Supporters to Lifetime memberships.
“When we look at the home town of these members, it’s surprising that only around 15% live in Aldershot, 35% live in the surrounding areas, such as Farnborough, Farnham, Fleet, Woking and Guildford, whilst the remaining 50% come from further afield - literally all over the country.
“Even more surprising is that we've received memberships from Australia, Canada and the USA!"
Indeed, the announcement comes as the latest supporter secured the milestone “1000” membership number, but the announcement was quick to reiterate the previous message that the Trust still urgently requires supporters to join up.
With a number of previous members allowing their memberships to lapse, the Trust currently has around 630 “active” members, so the message is still clear – if you want to help secure the future of Aldershot Town Football Club, then JOIN THE TRUST!
With 110 members joining up or renewing their memberships over the last three weeks, the hard work of the Trust Board is continuing as they work with the clubs administrators in order to secure the very future of the club by presenting a strong case for Trust representation on any new Board if or when the club does exit administration and with another meeting taking place this coming Wednesday (22nd May 2013), as well as an increase in membership figures, the Trust are hoping to be able to provide an update on their survey - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Shots_in_community_ownership - so if you haven’t already, please take part – BUT PLEASE BE REALISTIC WITH ANY DONATIONS YOU MAY BE ABLE TO MAKE.
Even if you can’t pledge any sums of money, the Trust are still looking for all supporters, friends, families and work colleagues to complete the survey as they would like to know if potential club ownership is something that has the support of not only Shots fans but the wider community too.
The Trust have also set up a dedicated Community Share area on their website where supporters will find further information on how the scheme works – please visit www.theshotstrust.co.uk for details.
