Paul Maynard has opted to step down as the treasurer ahead of the AGM.
In his resignation letter, which Paul is happy for us to publish, he states:
"Dear Tony,
I have the strong opinion that the Aldershot Town Supporters Trust Board will not unite behind Supporters Direct policies, which I have consistently backed.
Even if the Post AGM Trust Board has a majority aligning with my position there would be enough alternative opinions within the Trust Board and the Football Club to prevent progress in a manner in line with the Supporters Direct approach.
I therefore tender my resignation with an effective date of 31st May 2011. You have stated in a recent Board meeting that my work is of a high standard and I am grateful for this recognition. I leave the Trust with the 2010 accounts having passed the independent check and gaining unanimous Board approval. In addition all the 2011 banking and accounting is completed up to the date of my resignation.
I have every confidence you will bring the Trust Board up to a full complement and know you are making progress in this area. I wish the Trust every success in whichever direction it wishes to take.
Regards,
Paul"
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Acting Chairman Tony Sharp expressed his thanks for all of Paul’s hard work and dedication to the Shots Trust over the last few years. In addition to his time on the board Paul was an original member of the Trust Steering Group.
