Barnett bags Stanley first win in six

Substitute Charlie Barnett scored an 88th-minute winner to end a five-game winless run in League Two for Accrington in their 3-2 victory over Aldershot.

With just two minutes left, the sub played a neat one-two with Ian Craney following a corner and rifled the ball into the net from 15 yards.

It was an open game which could have gone either way, as Stanley twice came from behind.

Danny Hylton struck for the visitors in the seventh minute when Anthony Straker worked hard down the left and fired in a deep cross to Jermaine McGlashan, whose outstretched leg put the ball back in the danger area and Hylton rushed in and rifled the ball into the top of the net.

Within four minutes Stanley were level when defender Sean Hessey blasted a 25 yard effort free-kick low and hard into the bottom of the net for his second goal of season

However, Dean Holdsworth's side got back in front on 24 minutes when Alex Rodman's corner was headed in by Hylton for his seventh goal of the season, although team-mate Jamie Collins did claim he got a touch on the line.

Stanley were level again on 56 minutes when Craney got the ball on the right of the area and fired in a shot which deflected off a defender into the path of Danny Coid, who drilled home his first Stanley goal from 12 yards out.

Luke Guttridge thought he had got the Shots winner with a blistering shot which Stanley keeper Sean Murdoch did well to push away, but Craig Lindfield also wasted a good late chance for the Reds by blasting over before the late winner.

It was a momentous game for home captain Andy Procter who became only the second Stanley player to reach 400 games for the Crown Ground club.
