Accrington Stanley and Aldershot served up an entertaining antidote to the sterile Premiership at the Interlink Express Stadium.
A match of five bookings, five goals and a sending-off brought Stanley a fifth successive win to leave Aldershot rooted to the Conference basement.
However the visitors almost snatched an unlikely draw despite playing for the final half hour a man short after Matt Somner kicked out at Stanley captain Peter Cavanagh.
Referee Carl Evans however, failed to spot the provocation from Cavanagh that lead to Somner lashing out while on the ground.
Despite their deficit Aldershot, trailing 3-1 at the time, pulled a goal back through Tim Sills in the 71st minute. And then two minutes from time man of the match Nick Crittenden forced a superb one-handed save from Darren Randolph.
Indeed, Aldershot started as well as they finished the game. Speedy winger Ryan Williams created numerous problems, culminating in the opening goal after 24 minutes. His centre was met by the unmarked Somner who headed home from six yards.
However, Accrington Stanley came storming back with three goals in the final ten minutes of the opening period.
Steve Jagielka hit the equaliser after Paul Mullin and Greg Heald tussled for the ball and six minutes later Ian Craney's shot was turned in by David Brown for his fourth goal of the campaign.
Then winger Gary Roberts, who had struck a post in the first minute, rifled in after Paul Mullin had dummied a long pass out of defence by Mike Flynn.
