Altrincham's first ever league fixture against Aldershot ended in victory for the visitors as two second-half Robins headers shot down the Shots at the Recreation Ground.
With much of the possession, Aldershot will wonder how they were unable to get something from this game. Second-half strikes by substitute James Olsen and Colin Little, within seven minutes of each other saw the Robins home.
A cagey opening by both sides, but Aldershot gradually asserted their domination. Only poor finishing by the Shots ensured the half ended goalless, and Tim Sills was unfortunate not to open the scoring on 17 minutes.
After some neat build-up play from Frenchman Bertrand Cozic, his cross from the right found Sills only able to head into keeper Stuart Coburn's arms when clear. Seconds later and Sills once again was unable to convert his angled header.
Midway through the first half, the pacey Nick Crittenden found his captain Steve Watson with goal at his mercy, but Watson's poor touch averted the danger.
Sills then engineered the best chance of the half, after Robins defender Stephen Rose's attempted clearance fell into the path of an alert Sills, his low shot from 12 yards fizzed just past Coburn's upright.
Altrincham, for all their defending, did manage two half chances through Gary Williams who blasted over when clear, and a curled effort which could only find keeper Nikki Bull from the edge of the box.
The Shots pressure was relentless as Matt Somner's diving header, Tarkan Mustapha's right-foot screamer and Watson again went close, but Altrincham just held on.
The Robins took the lead just past the hour mark. An excellent Colin Potts cross from the right found an unmarked Olsen who headed past Bull.
Potts was once again the provider in almost a replica second goal, this time Little was on target, once again unmarked.
