A smash and grab raid that the SAS would have been proud of was sufficient for the Bulls of Hereford to take all three points back to Edgar Street.
The Shots went a goal down with only 26 seconds on the clock when a quickly taken Jon Brady short corner was rifled into the top corner of the net by hit-man Danny Carey-Bertram.
Stunned into initial silence, the Shots fans roared their team on as the home side went looking for an equaliser, and they should have had it one minute later only for the lively Nick Crittenden to have his powerful point-blank drive stopped by keeper Wayne Brown.
Five minutes later Chris McPhee could once again only find Brown after a neat build-up from the left. Then, had Ahmed Deen and Andre Boucaud been alert, the Shots could have drawn level as Brown was exposed.
Hereford were able to pass the ball clinically though and on-loan striker Matt Bailey was a real menace to the Shots rearguard all night long.
Despite constant attacks from Aldershot throughout the second half, Bailey should have doubled the Bulls' advantage in the 62nd minute. Ryan Green was the provider from the right, and only an excellent low fingertip save from Nikki Bull kept the score at 1-0.
The Shots continued to surge forward, relying mainly on Crittenden's supply to the head of Tim Sills from the right, but the Bulls defence, marshalled by Tamika Mkandawire had the measure of a blunt Shots attack that lacked penetration.
With the fixture resembling a cup-tie, Hereford just sat back inviting their hosts to attack, but with Aldershot tiring they were once again unable to find the net.
