Despite the home side's last three fixtures producing 19 goals and Morecambe going unbeaten in their last five games, the match unusually lacked tempo.
The visitors showed the greater early intentions, with a long-range effort from Wayne Curtis going just wide on eight minutes, but the game lacked chances.
Aldershot responded by moving up a gear. The new partnership of Marvin Morgan and Jake Robinson looked dynamic and gave the side a good energy, but didn't threaten Barry Roche in the Morecambe goal.
On 38 minutes a quick free-kick from Andy Lindegaard gave Andy Sandell a free header inside the box, but the winger failed to find the target. Moments later Morgan found himself in space but shot straight at Roche.
Gary Waddock has repeatedly expressed his concern at his side's defence, in their last four games they have conceded 14 goals.
Dave Winfield, starting his second game in the place of captain Rhys Day, did well at the heart of the Aldershot defence to limit Morecambe's chances.
But predictably the form side snatched a goal in first-half stoppage time. Michael Twiss caused havoc down the flank and crossed into the danger zone.
Alex McCarthy was able to block the initial effort, but could do nothing as Curtis stabbed home the rebound, with Aldershot helplessly appealing for offside.
The second half began in a familiar stale fashion and was killed as a contest on 54 minutes. Again Aldershot made a mess of defending when the ball was allowed to bounce in midfield.
Stewart Drummond seized the initiative and slammed the ball home from 30 yards into the top right-hand corner of the net.
On the hour mark Reading loanee Scott Davies saw his trademark effort from distance go wide, but Aldershot's attacking threat was best summed up 15 minutes later when Sandell broke through the Morecambe defence only to then hit the roof of the stadium with his shot.
Late in the game Twiss again found space for himself and crossed for Curtis, but the striker couldn't finish from close range.
But it was an excellent performance by the Shrimps as they extended their unbeaten run to six games.
