Jake Robinson grabbed a brace to sink Accrington Stanley and secure a first win in 2009 for Aldershot Town.

Aldershot started brightly and could have gone ahead in the opening moments but for timely challenges by Phil Edwards and Kieran Charnock.

Accrington - without a win in a month - responded with a well-worked move on 13 minutes.

James Ryan found Chris Turner on the edge of the area. Despite being under pressure, he produced an exquisite back-heel to put John Miles in front of goal only for the midfielder to fire wide from 15 yards.

On 22 minutes Kirk Hudson broke the deadlock firing low into the bottom left corner after good work down the right flank by Jake Robinson.

Accrington almost equalised from the kick-off. Turner delivered a delightful ball into the penalty area and Paul Mullin made a good connection only to head wide from eight yards.

Aldershot, slightly against the run of play, finished the game off in the last five minutes of the first half. On 40 minutes Andy Lindegaard split the Accrington defence inviting Robinson to finish low into the bottom left corner.

In injury time Accrington lapsed in concentration again. Anthony Charles hit a hopeful ball into the opposition box and Robinson got ahead of Kenny Arthur to lob the ball home.

On 52 minutes Arthur denied Hudson his 11th goal of the season tipping the winger's curling long-range effort over the bar.

Moments later John Coleman made a triple substitution. It proved to be a master stroke as Accrington pulled a goal back on the hour mark. Robert Grant's corner found Paul Mullin and his cushioned header was poked home by Craig Lindfield.

Aldershot 's first-half confidence rapidly drained away. On 72 minutes Lindfield drove into the penalty area but wasted a good chance firing over the bar.

Seconds alter the Liverpool loanee found space again feeding James Ryan. The midfielder squared to Paul Mullin who failed to make a proper connection from three yards out.

Despite dominating the second half Accrington lacked the craft to open up Aldershot's nervy defence and they headed back up the M1 soundly beaten.
