A clinical 36th minute strike from Alex Rodman was enough to earn Shots their second League Two away win in four days, as they returned from road trips to Hereford and Bristol with maximum points.
The stats - and even more encouragingly the performances - are looking good for Shots just now. Unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions and four clean sheets in the last five matches.
All accounts suggest that Michael Rankine was the clear man-of-the-match for vibrant Shots and that Darren Jones and Aaron Morris were superb after the break as Shots defended brilliantly to hold off a good response from the home side. Manager Dean Holdsworth was pleased with "the desire, the ability to keep the ball when we could and to open Rovers up several times in the first half". He described Shots performance as "magnificent" in the first half and "very professional" in the second.
So, Shots now up to 11th, just a solitary point off of a play-off spot and we can all now look forward to what should be a great atmosphere at the EBB Stadium on Tuesday for the visit of League One Rochdale and a chance for Aldershot Town FC to make the last 16 of the Carling Cup for the first time.
