Crawley Town 2 - 6 Aldershot Town

Last updated : 16 March 2008 By Stray Shots Team
Fielding a team to meet the Setanta Shield regulations, Martin Kuhl led the Shots to an emphatic 6-2 win at the Broadfield Stadium. Boss Waddock was at Plainmoor to see Torquay drop vital points, being held by lowly Altrincham.

Starting with Jaime-Ruiz, Smith, Winfield, Charles, Milletti, Soares, Davies, Donnelly, Hudson, Hylton and Elvins and a subs bench containing Joel Grant, Day, Chalmers, Gier and Straker, the Shots fell behind half way through the second half to a Pitman header.

RHYS DAY - Stunning Volley First Of Two
DAVE WINFIELD - Hamstring Worry

A stunning volley by substitute Rhys Day - on in place of hamstring victim Dave Winfield - levelled things within 5 minutes. Kirk Hudson coolly put the Shots ahead five minutes later, but Pitman levelled things near the end.

Extra time was to prove a stroll for the Shots, with goals from Hylton, Grant and Donnelly before the break. Day completed the rout with five minutes to go.

Unsurprisingly Crawley boss Steve Evans wasn't a happy man after the game and has threatened to report Martin Kuhl for "swearing" at him before the game. Given that Crawley only have the Sussex Senior Cup left to play for, it is understandable that he is not too pleased tonight.
