A confident Aldershot Town brushed aside their Blue Square South opposition on Saturday afternoon without ever getting out of second gear and Gary Waddocks side will now be looking forwards to Monday afternoons Round Two draw.
Although getting off to a fairly slow start, The Shots soon found themselves gifted with their first goal when the highly unpredictable Delroy Preddie rolled a slow ball out to his own defenders who were caught knapping by Scott Davies who calmly slotted the ball into the back of the empty Hayes & Yeading net after just twenty minutes from all of twenty-five yards out.
The Shots livened up soon after and although both sides continued to break, it was just before the interval that they doubled their lead when John Grant received the ball and after out sprinting his marker, unleashed a terrific shot which crept under a helpless Preddie.
The Shots went further ahead on the hour when Jonny Dixon headed home having got onto the end of a John Grant cross and by the time he grabbed his second on seventy-two minutes, United's hopes of making the draw were all but faded.
The Shots continued to pressure and their full-time fitness shone through in the last half an hour and Kirk Hudson sealed a comfortable display in the last minute when his effort hit the roof of the net from twelve-yards out.
Speaking to the official website after the match Waddock said, "We kicked on in the second half having after sitting off them in the first forty-five minutes. We gave them too much time on the ball."
