Hereford United completed their third double of the season as they moved back into second place in the Conference table.
But the Bulls were made to battle hard by a Shots side that have now lost all six Conference clashes between the sides over the past three years.
Hereford took early control with a fine strike from Andy Williams and Stuart Fleetwood's excellent effort extended their lead.
But Gary Holloway pulled a goal back in the second period and only a fine late save from Holloway by Wayne Brown stopped the visitors from picking up a point.
The first half proved to be a fast and open affair with the tone set as early as the third minute by Williams' opening goal.
The young striker controlled Fleetwood's cross at the near post before slamming a left-foot shot past Nikki Bull for his ninth goal of the season.
Daryl Taylor missed a golden chance to extend the lead four minutes later, blasting Nicky Nicolau's cross over with only Bull to beat.
Hereford deservedly extended their lead on 28 minutes when Fleetwood raced past Lewis Hamilton before sliding the ball past the helpless Bull.
The goalkeeper saved his side from further problems four minutes before the break with a brilliant save to keep out Tamika Mkandawire's header from Fleetwood's cross.
After a comparatively sluggish start to the second period, the Shots pulled a goal back thanks to some messy Hereford defending.
Ryan Williams' deep cross was nudged into the middle by Hassam Sulaiman and Holloway's diving header gave Brown no chance.
Mkandawire headed a Rob Purdie corner against the bar with Bull beaten but Holloway so nearly had the last say as an exciting game came to a close.
