Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche was the Shrimps' hero as they collected their first win in ten games.
The giant keeper made a string of fine saves, including a 40th minute penalty block to steer his side to only their second League win of the campaign and raise the spirits around Christie Park.
Morecambe started well and almost went ahead through a freak own goal as Anthony Straker's misdirected back pass forced keeper Nikki Bull into an awkward scramble away with his feet.
Bull was then in action again on 15 minutes with a good save from Ryan McGivern's superb 25-yard thunderbolt, before the visitors clawed their way into the game.
Morecambe skipper Jim Bentley had to be alert to stop Danny Hylton's run on goal, before Roche produced the first of his saves with a one-handed effort to block Kirk Hudson's 25-yard strike.
Roche was then the centre of attention again on 40 minutes, when Henry McStay hacked Hylton in the box but Roche produced a stunning block at full stretch to foil John Grant.
The Morecambe keeper remained alert at the start of the second half to parry a Grant shot on the turn, before the Shrimps took the lead on 56 minutes when the overlapping Ryan McGivern crossed into the danger area and Stewart Drummond produced a fine finish with a left-foot shot.
Roche then did well to protect the lead just after the hour when he foiled Grant again with a fine save at the far post after McGivern was caught napping at the death.
When Roche was finally beaten he was lucky to see Ben Harding's 30-yarder come back off the crossbar.
From there Morecambe were able to push forward and take advantage of the gaps left by Aldershot's foraging defenders and they took full advantage with a second.
Wayne Curtis was put through and although Bull saved his first effort, McGivern followed up to open his account for the Shrimps with a cool finish to seal the win.
