Aldershot stunned Woking with a two-goal first-half blitz that ultimately proved enough to secure all three points.

In front of 1,000 strong away support the visitors started brightly and Leroy Griffiths and Steve Watson both ensured Cards' England keeper Shwan Jalal was kept busy early on.

In fact the visitors, fresh from their first away win since November at Kidderminster on Saturday, took the game to the Cards, Gary Holloway flashing a centre across goal in a period of early pressure.

That pressure told when Leroy Griffiths set up Nick Crittenden for a shot from the edge of the box which flew in at Jalal's near post to give his side the lead.

Two minutes later Cards defender Simon Jackson made a hash of Holloway's cross and when Ryan Williams fired his shot at Stuart Nethercott, the defender handled - referee Fred Graham pointing to the spot.

Darren Barnard stroked his spot kick home, was asked to retake because of an encroachment, and duly dispatched his second effort coolly in the opposite corner.

Despite Steve Ferguson narrowly missing the upright with Woking's only chance of the first half the match had belonged to Terry Brown's men up until the halfway point as they had ripped the hosts apart with their pace and passion.

Cards boss Glenn Cockerill brought on Craig McAllister at half time, at last playing two up front. The result was Woking forcing their way back into the match with Karl Murray hitting the post and Greg Heald clearing off the line from Ferguson.

Gary McDonald drove in a late effort to give Woking a glimpse of a point but the Shots held on for a deserved win with Cockerill rueing the fact that his side had given Aldershot a two-goal start.
